Andy Tours UK in Godspell in Concert Role

Following the success of last year’s West End one-off performance at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, Andy returned to the cast of Godspell in Concert as the show embarked on a full tour of the UK which started at the Hackney Empire on Saturday 4th April.

The original Godspell musical, penned by Stephen Schwartz, became one of the most successful shows of all-time after its first performance off Broadway in 1971. The story is based around a number of parables, largely taken from the Gospel of Matthew, delivers a heart-lifting message of friendship, loyalty and love.

Andy is playing both Judas and John the Baptist, joining former Sugarbabe, Jade Ewen, who represented Great Britain at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest and whose previous stage credits include the Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s The Night and Porgy and Bess.
The principal cast also includes Leanne Jarvis from BBC’s The Voice and, playing Jesus, Tom Senior, who enjoyed great acclaim in Jersey Boys. Returning too from last year are the show’s director, Kenneth Avery-Clark, and musical director, Russell Scott. Scott said, “Since the West End gala, we have worked tirelessly to bring Godspell back to the UK and on tour for the first time in almost ten years in our new concert format.”

After a second performance at the Hackney Empire on Sunday 5th April, Godspell in Concert moves around Britain between now and July, visiting Guildford, Southampton, Llandudno, Cardiff, Swansea, Reading, Brighton, Southsea, Gateshead, Sunderland, Torquay, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Ipswich, Manchester, Darlington, Grimsby, Dartford, Birmingham, Oxford, Hastings, Hull, Bradford, Glasgow, Woking, Watford, Blackpool, Wycombe and Northampton.
