Taking time out from his hugely successful UK theatre big band tour, soul star Andy Abraham is set to entertain a sell-out crowd at the home of cricket in Leicestershire, Grace Road.
Andy will be performing at the opening match of the Friends Life t20 tournament between defending champions Leicestershire and local rivals the Nottinghamshire Outlaws.
Ready to put on a fantastic show that will get the Grace Road really going, Andy is fresh from dazzling audiences across the country with his current tour History of the Big Bands, which sees him performing with one of the country’s best 13-piece big bands as they play the legendary classic tunes of the swing and big band era. Andy is set to return to Leicester with his big band when the History of the Big Bands arrives at DeMontfort Hall on 21st June.
It’s been a busy year for Andy so far, with a nationwide tour and a brand new album Remember When… out now. Produced by Grammy-award winning producer and songwriter Eliot Kennedy, Andy’s fourth studio album features Andy’s soulful versions of classic soul tunes such as Stevie Wonder’s ‘As’ and Marvin Gaye’s ‘Maercy, Mercy Me’. Remember When… was released earlier this year to great critical acclaim.
“Performing at Grace Road will be great. Leicestershire have been so successful in the t20 tournament the last few years so let’s hope this year’s no different! I’m also looking forward to coming back to Leicester to on the 21st, and that time I’ll be bringing all the guys from the big band with me to really get the DeMontfort Hall swinging!”
As Leicestershire’s Friends Life t20 campaign gets underway on 12th June, Matthew Hoggard’s team will be hoping to repeat the fantastic success they enjoyed in last year’s tournament, where they emerged as victors for the 3rd time in 8 years.
The match will be televised on Sky Sports 1, with coverage beginning at 17.00.
